Yury Levitansky «Something occurred, all are leaving us...»

Something occurred, all are leaving us, I fear.
Old friendships fell off like the leaves here and there.
… It's long since flying saucers did not appear.
Even the snow people disappeared somewhere.
They were flying over us, they flew truly.
They were circling on the snow, they walked around.
Kind fairies soared o'er us, I'm aware fully,
By true friendship we were with kind angels bound.
Why are you, kind angels, not seen from below?
How I miss you, fairies, kind, airy, divine!
How it is awfully upsetting to know—
that above you no one is really flying.
… A ray from a green star sparks when it's dawning.
Red planet spreads a nocturnal brilliant shine.
How on earth I'm lone without you, I'm longing—
oh, Martians, forever beyond reach of mine!
Snow people, where are you, do not surrender,
oh, maidens, snowy-white, and soft, and tender!
Reach out your hands, open wide your embraces—
my poor sisters and brothers with pale faces!
… To our childhood dreams, sadly we bid farewell.
Our fantasies say goodbye to us as well.
No longer is heard the wings' rustle behind.
A robot snores o'er the wall, with metal mind.
