Сергей Петров «Короткая гроза»

Блеснула вдруг и полоснула
по горизонту раза два,
плеснула наспех и едва
пол-улицы ополоснула
и, собираясь дать раза
селу за то, что днём уснуло,
она тихонько громыхнула,
такая славная гроза!
Потом рукой на гром махнула:
Сойдёт и так! Не до беды!
Черёмухой чуть-чуть пахнула,
чрез громовой ухаб махнула,
и, словно ахнув, распахнула
глаза, и окна, и сады.

She flashed and lit, leaving zigzag strain,
slashed across the horizon twice,
splashed hastily, raised dust to skies,
and barely rinsed half the street with rain.
About to strike the village once more
because of napping through the day,
instead, she roared calm, moved away,
a gentle thunderstorm, bringing awe!
And then she waved the thunder aside:
Enough! No time for rains and pains!
She scented of bird cherry, so light,
and leapt the thunder’s rut with one stride,
as if crying "Ah", she opened wide
the eyes, gardens and window panes.
