Сергей Петров Летний сад*

Летний сад сквозит, как воздух, ёмкий,
понабрался статуй и людей.
На пруду с зелёною каёмкой
подают здесь свежих лебедей.
Без лица, но чем-то длинноглаза,
как впервые вышедшая в мир,
в лебедей глядится дева-ваза,
тихо приодетая в порфир.
И аллеи ходят как столетья.
Вечер настаёт во весь размах.
Фейерверки – точно междометья
и взлетают, как за ахом ах!

Sergey Petrov Summer Garden*

Summer Garden, capacious, as air,
has picked up the statues and crowds.
On a pond, fringed with green, the fresh and fair
swans are served, swimming beneath the clouds.
Faceless, but with long eyes forming a rim,
as if new-born to the world's embrace,
a maiden-waist vase watches the swans swim
in her calm porphyry, with soft grace.
The alleys wind like ages, what patience.
Evening arrives in all its glow.
Fireworks — are the same exclamations,
soar high, like "Ah!" after "Ah!" below!
