Николай Семёнович Тихонов (1896–1979) — поэт, прозаик, Герой Социалистического Труда. В блокадном Ленинграде оставался до конца осады и продолжал писать.

Петровой волей сотворён
И светом ленинским означен —
В труды по горло погружён,
Он жил — и жить не мог иначе.

Он сердцем помнил: береги
Вот эти мирные границы,-
Не раз, как волны, шли враги,
Чтоб о гранит его разбиться.

Исчезнуть пенным вихрем брызг,
Бесследно кануть в бездне чёрной
А он стоял, большой, как жизнь,
Ни с кем не схожий, неповторный!

И под фашистских пушек вой
Таким, каким его мы знаем,
Он принял бой, как часовой,
Чей пост вовеки несменяем!

By Peter's will, he had been built,
Was marked by light of Lenin, so wise, —
With labor, up to his neck, filled,
He lived — and couldn't live otherwise.

Deep down, he knew, he should protect
These peaceful borders,- he did recall,
Lots times, like storms, foes attacked,
To be crashed against his granite wall,

To be sunk in a foam of spray,
In a black abyss without a trace.
He, great as life, did ever stay,
Unlike any other, in his grace!

And as the fascist guns did roar,
He, as we know him, so courageous,
Took the fight, sentry he was more,
Whose post is held unchanged for ages!
