Все слабели, бабы — не слабели,-
В глад и мор, войну и суховей
Молча колыхали колыбели,
Сберегая наших сыновей.

Бабы были лучше, были чище
И не предали девичьих снов
Ради хлеба, ради этой пищи,
Ради орденов или обнов,-

С женотделов и до ранней старости
Через все страдания земли
На плечах, согбенных от усталости,
Красные косынки пронесли.

All got weak, — but not our women, though tired,-
During war and drought, hunger and thirst,
They rocked the cradles, keeping quiet,
With their great care, saving our sons first.

Our women were purer, they were better,
Never betraying each girlish dream,
Not for bread, not even for a medal,
Not for this food, or fashion's whim,-

Authorized, young and to early old ages,
Through all the sufferings of the earth,
On their shoulders, bowed and tired but courageous,
They have carried the red headscarves forth.
