How do I long to touch them by my lips gently now…
The darkest night, parting us, my beloved, fiercely lies,
And the worrying and black steppe between us grew cruelly how.

I do believe in you, my dear friend with love, so bright,
And this faith led off bullets from me beneath the darkest heavens.
And I'm glad, I'm calm in the mortal combat and fight,
I do know you'll greet me with love, no matter what to me happens.

Death doesn't scare me; we've met often in the steppe, so deep,
And now it's circling over me, all along trying to bother.
You wait for me, and by our baby's crib, you don't sleep,
And that's why I do know that nothing bad happens to me further!
