Emily - No Prisoner Be. Theatrical song cycle
These performances unite Joyce with the boundary-blurring trio Time for Three, under the inventive direction of Andrew Staples. Together, they craft an immersive blend of music and theater that brings Dickinson’s inner world to life, one filled with emotional depth, spiritual yearning, and fierce individuality.
This season, audiences will have several opportunities to hear Joyce perform this exceptional new work. Emily – No Prisoner Be comes to Chicago’s Symphony Center on February 10, New York’s Carnegie Hall on February 19, and Princeton University on February 22, 2025.

It features mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato and the ensemble Time for Three. The work explores Dickinson's "unbridled passion and resistance" through 24 songs and is performed
in a semi-staged setting that recreates the atmosphere of her room.
