Blood Moon - 2026
https://youtu.be/ebDT6fBx180?si=RAL9kFlH4WRIymgR

The Moon's Eclipse

Gazing at the crimson waters of the blood trail
The moon's eclipse on a deathly black sky background
There's a crumpled travel ticket in his raincoat pocket.
Peron of the train station, silence, a backpack with half a loaf of bread in it

Holding a pyramid of kefir in his left hand
I walked along the sleepers leaving the viaduct
My mind is blind, my spirit barely flutters in my chest
Opening the gate of my sinful soul a little

I was aware of the root causes of all the events that had happened
In a moment of inspiration and Divine inspiration
With an abundance of knowledge about the direct purpose of being

But the reflected rays of the moon in the bloody waters
They will not foreshadow the long-promised freedom
Which my soul longs for from a young age

The Root of Sin
February 27, 2026;Friday of the First Week of Lent;Readings for Today
Saint Gregory of Narek, Abbot and Doctor of the Church—Optional Memorial

Jesus said to his disciples: “I tell you, unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter into the Kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:20
Imagine a wife asked her husband to go to the supermarket and pick up a pound of potatoes. Being literal, he went to the store, found a pound of potatoes, picked them up, set them back down, and returned home. When his wife asks where the potatoes are, he explains that they’re still at the store. Confused, she asks why he didn’t bring them home, and he responds, “You only asked me to ‘pick them up.’”
While this example might be humorous, it illustrates an essential truth about following instructions. The husband might have technically fulfilled the request but missed the deeper meaning. In much the same way, the scribes and Pharisees in Jesus’ time scrupulously followed the letter of God’s Law but often failed to grasp the spirit behind it.
Jesus addresses this issue directly in today’s Gospel. The Law, as given by God through Moses, was summed up in the Ten Commandments. But Jesus came to reveal the deeper meaning behind those commands. For example, He explains the true meaning of the commandment, “You shall not kill.”
On the surface, one might think that as long as you don’t physically murder someone, you are free from guilt. But Jesus shows that this commandment goes far beyond the act of murder. He reveals that the commandment also forbids less serious internal and external sins.
Jesus identifies three levels of sin related to this commandment. First is anger. Anger is an interior disposition; of the three sins, it is the least severe. It begins with a judgmental thought or condemnation and often results in feelings of anger. Though feelings are not sinful, allowing anger to take root due to rash judgment or contempt is a sin, even if no further action is taken. Jesus warns that harboring anger makes a person “liable to judgment.”
The second level of sin is verbal, specifically calling someone Raqa. This Aramaic term is a derogatory insult, meaning someone is empty-headed or worthless. Such an insult externalizes anger and reveals a more profound disdain for the person and a failure to recognize the person’s worth in God’s eyes. Speaking this way to someone shows a lack of respect for his or her dignity as a child of God. Jesus warns that those who commit this sin will be “answerable to the Sanhedrin.” In other words, not only will God hold them accountable, but they may also need fraternal correction from family, friends, or the Church if they fail to repent.
The most serious offense Jesus mentions is calling someone, “You fool!” In biblical terms, calling someone a fool is more than just an insult; it is a condemnation of the person’s character. In Scripture, a fool is someone who rejects God and lives in moral corruption, as in Psalm 14:1, “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’” To call someone a fool, therefore, is to cast judgment on the person’s soul, associating that individual with someone who is cut off from God’s grace. Jesus is stern in His warning: those who condemn others this way will be “liable to fiery Gehenna.”
Reflect today on Jesus’ teaching about the deeper meaning of this and other commandments. Lent is a time of turning away from sin and returning to God. If you struggle with anger, examine its roots. If rash judgment is at the heart of it, seek God’s mercy and repent to find peace. If you’ve hurt others with critical or condemning words, especially if you’ve judged their moral character, confess this grave sin and remember that God alone is the Judge. Strive to fulfill not only the letter of God’s Law but also its spirit, and your life will bear abundant fruit.
My meek and humble Lord, though You are merciful, You are also just. I turn to Your mercy today, seeking forgiveness and grace to overcome the sin of anger and all that comes with it. Free me from judgmental thoughts, and help me love others with Your merciful Heart. Jesus, I trust in You.

58 https://www.jftna.org/jft/

Remorse
Page 58 https://www.jftna.org/jft/

"The Eighth Step offers a big change from a life dominated by guilt and remorse."

Basic Text, p. 39

Remorse was one of the feelings that kept us using. We had stumbled our way through active addiction, leaving a trail of heartbreak and devastation too painful to consider. Our remorse was often intensified by our perception that we couldn't do anything about the damage we had caused; there was no way to make it right.

We remove some of the power of remorse when we face it squarely. We begin the Eighth Step by actually making a list of all the people we have harmed. We own our part in our painful past.

But the Eighth Step does not ask us to make right all of our mistakes, merely to become willing to make amends to all those people. As we become willing to clean up the damage we've caused, we acknowledge our readiness to change. We affirm the healing process of recovery.

Remorse is no longer an instrument we use to torture ourselves. Remorse has become a tool we can use to achieve self-forgiveness.

Just for Today: I will use any feelings of remorse I may have as a stepping-stone to healing through the Twelve Steps.

Better than Gold

As newcomers, many of us have indulged in spiritual intoxication. Like a gaunt prospector, belt drawn in over the last ounce of food, we saw our pick strike gold. Joy at our release from a lifetime of frustration knew no bounds.

The newcomer feels he has struck something better than gold. He may not see at once that he has barely scratched a limitless lode
which will pay dividends only if he mines it for the rest of his life and insists on giving away the entire product.

NO ORDINARY SUCCESS STORY

A.A. is no success story in the ordinary sense of the word. It is a story of suffering transmuted, under grace, into spiritual progress.
AS BILL SEES IT, p. 35

Upon entering A.A. I listened to others talk about the reality of their drinking: loneliness, terror and pain. As I listened further, I soon heard a description of a very different kind—the reality of sobriety. It is a reality of freedom and happiness, of purpose and direction, and of serenity and peace with God, ourselves and others. By attending meetings I am reintroduced to that reality, over and over. I see it in the eyes and hear it in the voices of those around me. By working the program I find the direction and strength with which to make it mine. The joy of A.A. is that this new reality is available to me.

The Light at the end of the tunnel - MCCCLXXXiV
http://stihi.ru/2026/02/25/9471

The Light at the end of the tunnel - MCCCLXXXiV

There seemed to be a light at the end of the tunnel
When the road was leading me up
I saw a lot of faces along the road
Everyone left their own bare footprints
I couldn't argue with myself.
I don't think I'll ever be able to
I walk into the distance without looking at the past
I still have a long way to go.

The path from the guillotine to the noose
In the forged chains of my bondage
Teeth clenched in unbearable pain
Golden gate light is seen in the distance
Having known the depth of earthly sorrow
I measured out the trouble with a yard.
I am a wanderer, my raft has long since set sail.
Where will I find salvation now

The future is thick with fog
My chest is clenched, I step, barely breathing
My soul warms with hope
Seeking the truth among deception
I see the light closer with every step.
A line of faces is waiting near the entrance
The question is asked from the sky and I'm waiting for an answer.
The chains are off, that's it - freedom

http://stihi.ru/2012/02/15/11155

I want to become cleaner and more tender myself...
so that I can cross the oceans of hope in my dreams.,
To be with you for the rest of my days...
I want to be with you, so fragile, vulnerable.,
To enjoy your beauty...
I need your reciprocity now.,
So that the reality coincides with the dream...

I want to be with you, hug you tight.,
Kissing you passionately, breathing...
I really want to understand your feelings for me.,
After all, you're as good as spring...
I want to be with you, I want to take your hand.,
Protect, protect and cherish...
Forget about all the pain and separation forever,
Falling asleep while hearing quiet speech...

I want to be with you, so warm and passionate.,
Dissolving into your warmth...
I want you to give me happiness.,
And she was my support everywhere...
I want to be with you, and drowning in love,
I'll fall asleep on your chest...

Templars of the Rose and the Cross
(Sergei Polischouk 05/04/2004)
http://stihi.ru/2009/05/09/5081

I am not worthy to be a Christian.
Even though Christ died and rose again for me
In the army of Christ, I am like a weak warrior.
May God allow me to carry the Cross of Christ

Let me be called a Crusader.
I am not worthy to be among the Saints.
That Christ would walk and shine like the Sun
And I carried the Cross after Him, hunchbacked and quiet

Christ's sake, let me ease my suffering.
That He might sit on the Throne in glory
For correction and for testing
Something about me, the whip whistled painfully.

And a bloody crown of thorns
From Christ's Head, God put it on me
That Christ, the King of the new earth
He went to the people, with the dawn of a new day

That they would spit on me, not on Christ.
I am guilty before God and people.
What would the thorns dig into the head, mixed
I need blood, even with a drop of God's Blood

That the Blood of Christ might unite with me
Purify your heart, mind, and mouth
Dwelling in me with the love of God
She could glorify Christ through me

And even if death catches me
The Blood that lives in me will be resurrected
A stream, a river, an ocean will become
For billions in Bread and Wine.

http://stihi.ru/2010/10/10/1527

I can feel your heart beating.
http://stihi.ru/2010/10/10/1527

I can feel your heart beating.,
I feel the warmth of your hand...
and we can't get away from love.,
We are so close, but how far we are...
I know everything that has been and what will be.,
I am fully aware of my guilt...
I know that people condemn us.,
But is it really our fault?

So day after day they pass in terrible agony.,
Sometimes we suffer defeat, sometimes we fail...
and our hands are already tired of fighting.,
And you're tired, and I'm tired...
you want everything and you want everything instantly,
But life has set its time for everything...
I'm rushing you to make changes.,
I get my lesson for that...

I'm disappearing without you like a ghost.,
You're like a fish without water without me...
we'll be together, I know that for sure.,
Someday you will believe in it...
hearts will merge, the goal will come true.,
The wedding bell will ring at the wedding hour...
and a new family will be born.,
And there will be peace and joy between us...

And the stars in the sky confirm it.,
The moon accompanies us in a quiet whisper...
we are separated by a lot of circumstances.,
But love unites us alone!

A lunar eclipse, also called a blood moon, is an astronomical event that occurs when the Moonorbits through Earth's shadow.[1][2] Lunar eclipses occur during eclipse season, when the Moon's orbital plane is approximately in line with Earth and the Sun. The type and length of a lunar eclipse depend on the Moon's proximity to the lunar node.[3][4] In contrast with illusive and short-lasting solar eclipses, lunar eclipses can be observed from anywhere on the night side of Earth and often last for an hour or longer.[5] Lunar eclipses are safe to observe without eye protection.[6]

A schematic diagram of the shadow cast by Earth. Within the umbra, the central region, the planet totally shields direct sunlight. In contrast, within the penumbra, the outer portion, the sunlight is only partially blocked. Sun, Moon, and Earth sizes and distances between them not to scale.
Lunar eclipses are notable for causing the Moon to appear orange or red. This occurs when the Moon passes through the Earth's umbra, necessitating any sunlight that reaches the Moon to first pass through the Earth's atmosphere. The resulting Rayleigh scattering removes high-wavelength colors such as violet and blue from the incoming light before it reflects off the lunar surface and is observed on Earth.[7]

Penumbral lunar eclipse
A penumbral lunar eclipse occurs when Earth's silhouette partially blocks the Sun in the lunar sky but does not occlude it completely, ensuring some sunlight can still reach the Moon directly. The designation refers to the Moon being partially inside of the penumbra, which describes the region of any shadow that is cast by a light source which is not collimated and has a non-zero angular diameter. A penumbral eclipse is designated as a total penumbral eclipse if the moon lies exclusively inside of the penumbra.
Penumbral eclipses are observed from Earth as a subtle dimming of the lunar surface.[8][9] Of all lunar eclipses, approximately one-third are penumbral eclipses; of those, only 3% are total penumbral eclipses.[10]

Partial lunar eclipse
A partial lunar eclipse refers to the Moon lying partially inside of the umbra, where the relative size of the Earth in the lunar sky allows it to block the Sun entirely. During a partial eclipse, the dark region covered by the umbra will appear more much more distinct than the penumbral dimming.
The Moon's average orbital speed is about 1.03 km/s (2,300 mph), or a little more than its diameter per hour, so totality may last up to nearly 107 minutes. Nevertheless, the total time between the first and last contacts of the Moon's limb with Earth's shadow is much longer and could last up to 236 minutes.[11]
Total lunar eclipse
When the Moon's near side entirely passes into the Earth's umbral shadow, a total lunar eclipse occurs.[12] Just prior to complete entry, the brightness of the lunar limb—the curved edge of the Moon still being hit by direct sunlight—will cause the rest of the Moon to appear comparatively dim. The moment the Moon enters a complete eclipse, the entire surface will become more or less uniformly bright, being able to reveal stars surrounding it. Later, as the Moon's opposite limb is struck by sunlight, the overall disk will again become obscured.
This is because, as viewed from the Earth, the brightness of a lunar limb is generally greater than that of the rest of the surface, due to reflections from the many surface irregularities within the limb: sunlight striking these irregularities is always reflected back in greater quantities than that striking more central parts, which is why the edges of full moons generally appear brighter than the rest of the lunar surface. This is similar to the effect of velvet fabric over a convex curved surface, which, to an observer, will appear darkest at the center of the curve. It will be true of any planetary body with little or no atmosphere and an irregular cratered surface (e.g., Mercury) when viewed opposite the Sun.[13]
Central lunar eclipse
When, during a total lunar eclipse, the Moon passes near and through the centre of Earth's shadow, contacting the antisolar point, it is classified as a central lunar eclipse.[14] This type of lunar eclipse is more frequent, occurring in 59.6% of all total lunar eclipses.[10]
The relative distance of the Moon from Earth at the time of an eclipse can affect the eclipse's duration. In particular, when the Moon is near apogee, the farthest point from Earth in its orbit, its orbital speed is the slowest. The diameter of Earth's umbra does not decrease appreciably within the changes in the Moon's orbital distance. Thus, the concurrence of a totally eclipsed Moon near apogee will lengthen the duration of totality.[15]
Selenelion

October 2014 lunar eclipse viewed from Minneapolis during sunrise on 8 October 2014. Both the Moon and Sun were visible at that time.[16]
A selenelion or selenehelion, also called a horizontal eclipse, occurs where and when both the Sun and an eclipsed Moon can be observed at the same time. The event can only be observed just before sunset or just after sunrise, when both bodies will appear just above opposite horizons at nearly opposite points in the sky. A selenelion occurs during every total lunar eclipse—it is an experience of the observer, not a planetary event separate from the lunar eclipse itself. Typically, observers on Earth located on high mountain ridges undergoing false sunrise or false sunset at the same moment of a total lunar eclipse will be able to experience it. Although during selenelion the Moon is completely within the Earth's umbra, both it and the Sun can be observed in the sky because atmospheric refractioncauses each body to appear higher (i.e., more central) in the sky than its true geometric planetary position.[17]

Timing

Contact points relative to the Earth's umbral and penumbral shadows, here with the Moon near its descending node
The timing of total lunar eclipses is determined by what are known as its "contacts" (moments of contact with Earth's shadow):[18]
* P1 (First contact): Beginning of the penumbral eclipse. Earth's penumbra touches the Moon's outer limb.
* U1 (Second contact): Beginning of the partial eclipse. Earth's umbra touches the Moon's outer limb.
* U2 (Third contact): Beginning of the total eclipse. The Moon's surface is entirely within Earth's umbra.
* Greatest eclipse: The peak stage of the total eclipse. The Moon is at its closest to the center of Earth's umbra.
* U3 (Fourth contact): End of the total eclipse. The Moon's outer limb exits Earth's umbra.
* U4 (Fifth contact): End of the partial eclipse. Earth's umbra leaves the Moon's surface.
* P4 (Sixth contact): End of the penumbral eclipse. Earth's penumbra no longer makes contact with the Moon.

Danjon scale

The Moon does not completely darken as it passes through the umbra because Earth's atmosphere refractssunlight into the shadow cone.
The following scale (the Danjon scale) was devised by Andr; Danjon for rating the overall darkness of lunar eclipses:[19]
* L = 0: Very dark eclipse. Moon almost invisible, especially at mid-totality.
* L = 1: Dark eclipse, gray or brownish in coloration. Details distinguishable only with difficulty.
* L = 2: Deep red or rust-colored eclipse. Very dark central shadow, while outer edge of umbra is relatively bright.
* L = 3: Brick-red eclipse. Umbral shadow usually has a bright or yellow rim.
* L = 4: Very bright copper-red or orange eclipse. Umbral shadow is bluish and has a very bright rim.

In a lunar eclipse, the Moon often passes through two regions of Earth's shadow: an outer penumbra, where direct sunlight is dimmed, and an inner umbra, where indirect and much dimmer sunlight refracted by Earth's atmosphere shines on the Moon, leaving a reddish color. This can be seen in different exposures of a partial lunar eclipse, for example here with exposures of 1/80, 2/5, and 2 seconds.
There is often confusion between a solar eclipse and a lunar eclipse. While both involve interactions between the Sun, Earth, and the Moon, they are very different in their interactions.
The Moon does not completely darken as it passes through the umbra because of the refraction of sunlight by Earth's atmosphere into the shadow cone; if Earth had no atmosphere, the Moon would be completely dark during the eclipse.[20] The reddish coloration arises because sunlight reaching the Moon must pass through a long and dense layer of Earth's atmosphere, where it is scattered. Shorter wavelengths are more likely to be scattered by the air molecules and small particles; thus, the longer wavelengths predominate by the time the light rays have penetrated the atmosphere. Human vision perceives this resulting light as red. This is the same effect that causes sunsets and sunrises to turn the sky a reddish color.[21] An alternative way of conceiving this scenario is to realize that, as viewed from the Moon, the Sun would appear to be setting (or rising) behind Earth.
The amount of refracted light depends on the amount of dust or clouds in the atmosphere; this also controls how much light is scattered. In general, the dustier the atmosphere, the more that other wavelengths of light will be removed (compared to red light), leaving the resulting light a deeper red color. This causes the resulting coppery-red hue of the Moon to vary from one eclipse to the next. Volcanoes are notable for expelling large quantities of dust into the atmosphere, and a large eruption shortly before an eclipse can have a large effect on the resulting color.[22]

In culture

The symbol for a lunar eclipse (or any body in the shadow of another) is

 (U+1F776 ;).
Several cultures have myths related to lunar eclipses or allude to the lunar eclipse as being a good or bad omen. The Egyptians saw the eclipse as a sow swallowing the Moon for a short time; other cultures view the eclipse as the Moon being swallowed by other animals, such as a jaguar in Mayan tradition, or a mythical three-legged toad known as Chan Chu in China.[citation needed] Some societies thought it was a demon swallowing the Moon, and that they could chase it away by throwing stones and curses at it.[23] Ancient Greeksunderstood the Earth was round, citing the Earth's shadow observed during a lunar eclipse as evidence.[24] Some Hindus believe in the importance of bathing in the Ganges River following an eclipse because it will help to achieve salvation.[25]
Inca
Similarly to the Mayans, the Incans believed that lunar eclipses occurred when a jaguar ate the Moon, which is why a blood moon looks red. The Incans also believed that once the jaguar finished eating the Moon, it could come down and devour all the animals on Earth, so they would take spears and shout at the Moon to keep it away.[26]
Mesopotamians
The ancient Mesopotamians believed that a lunar eclipse was when the Moon was being attacked by seven demons. This attack was more than just one on the Moon, however, for the Mesopotamians linked what happened in the sky with what happened on the land, and because the king of Mesopotamia represented the land, the seven demons were thought to be also attacking the king. In order to prevent this attack on the king, the Mesopotamians made someone pretend to be the king so they would be attacked instead of the true king. After the lunar eclipse was over, the substitute king was made to disappear (possibly by poisoning).[26]
Chinese
In some Chinese cultures, people would ring bells to prevent a dragon or other wild animals from biting the Moon.[27] In the 19th century, during a lunar eclipse, the Chinese navy fired its artillery because of this belief.[28] During the Zhoudynasty (c.;1046 BC – 256 BC), according to the Book of Songs, the sight of a red moon engulfed in darkness was believed to foreshadow famine or disease.[29]

Occurrence
See also: Saros (astronomy) and Eclipse cycle
In the 21st century there are 228 lunar eclipses, an average of 2.28 per year, with at least two every year.[30][31] Total lunar eclipses are less common than partial lunar eclipses. Over a 5,000 year span from 2000 BCE to 3000 CE, 36.3% of lunar eclipses are penumbral, 34.9% are partial, and 28.8% are total.[10] If the date and time of an eclipse is known, the occurrence of upcoming eclipses is predictable using an eclipse cycle, like the saros. During a saros period, lasting 18 years and 11 days, there will usually be 70 eclipses, of which 29 are lunar.[32]Eclipses occur only during an eclipse season, when the Sun appears to pass near either node of the Moon's orbit.

A painting by Lucien Rudaux showing how a solar eclipse might appear when viewed from the lunar surface. The Moon's surface appears red because the only sunlight available is refracted through Earth's atmosphere on the edges of Earth, as shown in the sky in this painting.
A lunar eclipse is, on the Moon, a solar eclipse. The occurrence makes Earth's atmosphere appear as a red ring around the dark Earth. One such event was captured by the Surveyor 3 camera in 1967.[33] A second event was photographed in color by the Blue Ghost Mission 1 in 2025.[34] During a full moon, the phase during which lunar eclipses take place, the dark side of the Earth is illuminated by the Moon and its moonlight.
