Снег идёт, снег идёт.
К белым звёздочкам в буране
Тянутся цветы герани
За оконный переплёт.

Снег идёт, и всё в смятеньи,
Всё пускается в полёт, —
Чёрной лестницы ступени,
Перекрёстка поворот.

Снег идёт, снег идёт,
Словно падают не хлопья,
А в заплатанном салопе
Сходит наземь небосвод.

Словно с видом чудака,
С верхней лестничной площадки,
Крадучись, играя в прятки,
Сходит небо с чердака.

Потому что жизнь не ждёт.
Не оглянешься — и святки.
Только промежуток краткий,
Смотришь, там и новый год.

Снег идёт, густой-густой.
В ногу с ним, стопами теми,
В том же темпе, с ленью той
Или с той же быстротой,
Может быть, проходит время?

Может быть, за годом год
Следуют, как снег идёт,
Или как слова в поэме?

Снег идёт, снег идёт,
Снег идёт, и всё в смятеньи:
Убелённый пешеход,
Удивленные растенья,
Перекрёстка поворот.

It snows, snow lies on the earth.
To white stars, in snowstorm, matching,
Geranium blooms are stretching -
T'ward outside the window cross.

It snows, all and all’s in dismay,
Starting flying high, come on, —
Every step of the back stairway,
As well as the crossing turn.

It snows, and it snows, behold,
As if not the flakes are landing,
But in a patched cloak’s descending —
To the ground — the heaven vault.

Looking like a weirdo friend,
From the highest landing, sneaking,
From the attic, hide-and-seeking,
As if does the sky descend.

Cause the life doesn't wait, plus,
Before you know — it's yuletide.
Then a gap is so brief and light,
Look, but new year's come to us.

Snow falls, snow falls, thick and thick.
In step with it, with the same go,
Feet, tempo, pace and sloth meek,
Or with the same speed and leak,
Maybe, time goes quite so like snow?

P'raps, year after year goes by,
Like snow falls just from the sky,
Or like words in an ode to play?

It snows, it snows, it snows on,
It snows, all and all's in dismay:
Whitened roamer through snow stern,
Astonished plants this snowy day,
As well as the crossing turn.
