Молчи, скрывайся и таи
И чувства и мечты свои-
Пускай в душевной глубине
Встают и заходят оне
Безмолвно, как звезды в ночи,-
Любуйся ими — и молчи.

Как сердцу высказать себя?
Другому как понять тебя?
Поймёт ли он, чем ты живёшь?
Мысль изречённая есть ложь.
Взрывая, возмутишь ключи,-
Питайся ими — и молчи.

Лишь жить в себе самом умей-
Есть целый мир в душе твоей
Таинственно-волшебных дум;
Их оглушит наружный шум,
Дневные разгонят лучи,-
Внимай их пенью — и молчи!..

Here: my translation makes reference to the famous Russian folk saying: «The word is silver, silence is gold».

Be silent, hide yourself; conceal
Your reveries and feelings' thrill,
May them rise and set, and embrace
The depths of your soul, tacit space.
Like the stars in the night sky vault, -
Admire them — keep silence like gold.

How can the heart voice itself through?
How can others understand you?
Will they pick out what you live by?
A spoken thought is but a lie.
Blasting, you'll disturb the springs cold, -
Quench your thirst — keep silence like gold.

Live inside yourself, it's a goal -
There's the whole world, within your soul,
Of wondrous and mystic thoughts' choice;
They will be stunned by outside noise,
Sunrays will dispel your thoughts bold, -
Heed their songs — keep silence like gold!
