Тупым ножом стихи кромсают.
Отрезав, судят да рядят,
Потом едят,
Потом бросают.
Куда бросают - не глядят.

И вместо слов берут
   словечки,
И то как будто напрокат,
Считают рифмой:
   «песня - печка»,
«Коза - корова»…
Просто клад!

«Бревно - барак»,
«рога - рогожа».
Без точек и без запятых!
«Стамеска - стул»…
Прости им, боже,
Во имя грешных и святых!

А мы с другим стихом вставали,
Других созвучий знаем ряд,
А мы Некрасова певали*,
Да и поём,
Как говорят!

Отсыл к Николаю Алексеевичу Некрасову, который родился 28 ноября [10 декабря] 1821 года в Немирове, Подольской губернии, умер 27 декабря 1877 [8 января 1878] в Санкт-Петербурге. Признан великим русским поэтом, прозаиком, классиком русской литературы.

Некрасова по взглядам относят к «революционным демократам». В песнях поэта, как и во всём его творчестве, отражается тема народа и его судьбы.

With a dull knife, they chop the verses,
Having cut, judge, swallow the book,
They eat,
And throw, forgetting as losses,
Where they throw them to, they don't look.

Instead of words, they use some
                word things,
As if they hire them from one's speech;
And then, they rhyme like
                "songs" - with "songlings"
"Goat" - with "cat"…
                Mere is a trove rich!*

"Bar - barrack",
                "horn - horrid", like rhyme's near**,
Dots and commas are missed with this!
"Chisel - chair"...
Forgive them, our Lord dear,
In name of sinners and saints, please!

But we rose with a verse another,
We know some other accords' ranks,
We have sung Nekrasov’s songs rather***,
And still sing them,
As they say, thanks!

*In the original sense of the author: they rhyme "song - stove", "goat - cow" ...". Reference to Nikolai Alekseevich Nekrasov, who was born on November 28 [December 10], 1821 in Nemirov, Podolskaya Province, died December 27, 1877 [January 8, 1878] in Saint Petersburg. Recognized as a great Russian poet, prose writer, classic of Russian literature.

Nekrasov's views are associated with the “revolutionary democrats.” In his songs, as well as throughout all his work, he reflects the theme of the people and their fate.
