Мама! глянь-ка из окошка —
Знать, вчера недаром кошка
Умывала нос:
Грязи нет, весь двор одело,
Посветлело, побелело —
Видно, есть мороз.

Не колючий, светло-синий
По ветвям развешан иней —
Погляди хоть ты!
Словно кто-то тороватый
Свежей, белой, пухлой ватой
Все убрал кусты.

Уж теперь не будет спору:
За салазки, да и в гору
Весело бежать!
Правда, мама? Не откажешь,
А сама, наверно, скажешь:
«Ну, скорей гулять!»

Mom! Look out through the window pane —
Seems, that yesterday, not in vain,
Our cat washed its nose:
Dirt’s gone, the whole yard’s snowy there,
Brighter, whiter is everywhere —
Frosty, I suppose.

And not prickly, light blue frost-dew
Hangs from the tree branches anew —
Just cast a close glance!
As if an artful one did fluff
The fresh and white cotton wool stuff,
Clad bushes at once.

No one will argue, there's no doubt,
It's time to grab sleds and head out -
To the ice hill straight.
Isn't that right, Mom? You won't mind,
You'll yourself tell us, being kind,
"Rush outside, don't wait!"
