Вот ныне, откровенней откровенья,
Сказал я сердцу:
«Знай и повтори:
Бывают в жизни трудные мгновенья,
Часы и дни,
А ты перебори!

Не вздумай ныть ещё порой печальной,
Но, трижды презирая забытьё,
Умей хранить,
Умей беречь молчанье -
Жесточе слов молчание твоё!

Пусть кто-то назовёт его угрюмым,
Но всё равно его поймёт любой,
И в том числе лихие тугодумы,
Что это не молчанье,
Это бой!

Но всё же, сердце,
Я на слово лих,
И пусть в итоге сшибки позабытой
Пестрят фамильи недругов моих
На все почти что буквы алфавита!..»

Now, more revealing than the revelations,
I have said to my heart:
«Know and repeat:
There are in life too difficult occasions,
Hours and days,
But overcome them indeed!

Don't even think in this sad time of weeping,
But, despising the fierce oblivion thrice,
Preserve your silence,
Be able of keeping -
Your silence is harsher than words, that arise!

Let them say, that it's gloomy and ruled coolly,
But still anyone will understand right,
Even including the slow-witted fully,
That this is not the silence,
But a fight!

But still, my heart,
I'm with the words too daring,
Even if, in forgotten clash, I see
Names of my enemies, that dazzle, flaring,
Across almost each letter of the ABC.
