Давай считать, что мы с тобой не вместе,
(Хоть и любовь- на нас двоих-одна),
Чтоб за грехи мои своею честью
Не ты платил, а я один- сполна.

В любви всегда едины мы вдвоём,
Но разным в жизни злом поражены.
Хоть им любви не тронут окоём,
Но скошены её благие дни.

Знакомство наше лучше утаить,
Чтоб мой позор не жёг тебя стыдом,
Не надо бы тебе любезным быть
Со мной на публике, мой друг,
притом.

Но нет! Тебя так сильно я люблю,
Что чту своею я и честь твою.

Although our undivided loves are one:
So shall those blots that do with me remain,
Without thy help, by me be borne alone.
In our two loves there is but one respect,
Though in our lives a separable spite,
