Be Mine the Doom by Emily Dickinson
хвалой с лихвой -
пасть под её рукой!
(Эмили - к Сью, говоря от лица даримого той цветка,
намекая и на свою судьбу.)
[David Preest:
Thomas Johnson says that these lines were
‘evidently written to accompany the gift of
a flower.’ Presumably the flower is speaking
to the recipient and says in effect:
‘My life has met its end (=Doom). But at least
I have the fame of knowing that I perished
at the hand of Emily Dickinson, famous poet.’]
