In clay one is sculpted, another in granite,
And I silver-sparkle and splatter!
Marina my name is, Inconstance my habit,
The froth of the sea is the matter.

In clay who is cast, who in flesh is created,
For those are gravestones and ashes.
In depths of the ocean I'm christened – and fated
To endless upheavals and crashes.

Across every heart, every fisherman's netting
My soul will break clear, rebelling.
These raffish, these vicious curls you've been petting
Won't end up the salt of your dwelling.

Wave-smashed at the rocks of your ankles, I perish
For good – to rebound for better.
Let's crown, let's cherish this elfish, this airish
Compound of spirit and matter!

А я серебрюсь и сверкаю!             
Мне дело - измена, мне имя - Марина, 
Я - бренная пена морская.

Кто создан из глины, кто создан из плоти -    
Тем гроб и нагробные плиты...               
В купели морской крещена - и в полете
Своем - непрестанно разбита!               

Сквозь каждое сердце, сквозь каждые сети

Меня - видишь кудри беспутные эти?-
