Games

We all play games from birth till death.
Some games I like, a few I love
I can take lots, the rest I loathe
I will not play the ones I hate; I wouldn’t be a slave.

We want to win existence’s match.
What games to play to meet success?
What are the marks to gauge a punch?
What will provide the best access?

The road defined and goals are set:
society, family and schools;
all make us hungry move ahead
to grab the cake and work like mules.

Somehow, we learn that it will help
to join a smarter winning team,
reject the weak pathetic “pleb”,
taste sweet success and lucky gleam.

But life has rules, it's a loaded game,
God has defined unequal odds;
you may be lucky, you can aim -
but simple mortals can’t play Gods.

We all become deformed with time,
we lose our marbles, strength and will;
you cannot join the winning side,
all marked as losers to begin.

Except the game has perfect sense,
let’s play for action - not the end;
we only have a moment then,
so I rejoice and no amends.

Let's play for action, not results,
Enjoying games for tough adults.

Dear Marina,

It is probably
Let's play for action, not results,
Enjoying games for young adults.

As the game that we play when we try to be part of the club as young adults – degree, family, jobs, money etc gets reconsidered usually by the time we realise that we are mortals after all. The realisation that we all fellow travellers make a big difference in how we continue with the game.

Thank you for your kind remarks and I will be frequent visitor to your page

Cheers
