You Flew into My Soul Like a Meteor
You flew into my soul like a meteor’s flame,
And stayed there as a light that won’t fade.
Since that night my weary heart keeps beating
Like an engine that’s breaking but won’t break away.
I wanted to drink from your lips forever,
To lose myself inside the fire we knew,
But I could not leave my sons without a father,
And killed my own right to happiness with you.
Where sunsets burn on with no dawn in sight,
We were living between the dark and the light.
Holding on to a love we couldn’t keep,
While the silent stars were watching us sleep.
For two years we met in the shadows of evening,
Guarding every stolen embrace.
Drifting away through the kingdoms of dreaming,
Trying to outrun what we could not erase.
And fate, after giving us all of this sorrow,
Smiled once… then slowly slipped away,
Leaving only the echo of our love song
And the ghost of the nights that still remain.
Where sunsets burn on with no dawn in sight,
We were living between the dark and the light.
Holding on to a love we couldn’t keep,
While the silent stars were watching us sleep.
I never saw you wiping away those pearl tears
As you faded into the cold night air,
But I prayed to the gods they would always keep you
Like a Karelian birch standing silent and fair.
Where sunsets burn on with no dawn in sight,
I still wait for the coming of night.
Holding the faceless darkness to my soul
Like the memory of your shoulders in the dark.
