Bellerophon
All life chasing a chimera,
You were a toy for gods to hold.
You served them well through every era,
With sword and faith, so true and bold.
But someone there ordained it other,
And you were cast down from the skies.
Your fiery horse, your winged brother,
Into the azure flame now flies.
You fell to earth, so blind and broken,
Who once knew clouds and heights sublime,
Upon the dusty road, a token
Of heavy days and ruthless time.
Olympus closed, the wings are shattered,
Forgotten are the deeds you’ve done,
But through the shame and strength that scattered,
The fire inside you still has won!
And let the pride be lost forever,
You’re not among the gods to stand,
You are no more their toy, no, never —
You are a Man upon the sand.
