Create Yourself

  Based  on the poem
 "Создать себя"
I have made a translation.

We women carry an invisible weight:
Teenagers learn from us how to live,
How to behave amid storms and strife,
Which path to take as through the world they strive.

When you want to be a little better than before,
First look into your soul, into your dreams,
See how beautiful you are inside, for sure —
In your deeds, your hopes, in kindness’ quiet gleams.

Then think about your love for others, too,
For light cannot exist with just one flame.
Imagine your soul pure in every moment, true,
Bright and good in every line and name.

Then you’ll see yourself reflected back in time,
And understand the self you’ve come to make.
Yes, sometimes you can polish up your face and line,
But what matters most is keeping your outlook awake.

May this morning be a true and steady guide,
Extend our journey, give us strength and dreams inside.
