Evening

The evening chill descends above the stream,
The weeping willow bends as in a dream.
And mother Moon, in all her silver grace,
Has bathed the ripples in a quiet embrace.
And I stood mute. In my confusion, blind,
Not knowing what my heart and fate assigned;
The night is dark, entangled in mistrust,
And pale moonbeams slide through the stardust.
Years will pass by, and—truth be told—all fades,
The rose, the dawn, into the timeless shades.
I'll whisper to myself: I was. And yet,
Whether you loved me, I shall ne'er forget,
Or if it vanished in the cold regret...
A sudden breath of wind—like your soft hand
Caressed my cheek, as by some mystic land.
In that brief flash, I knew you through the chill,
Though your departed words were lingering still...
And then the wind unleashed a raging storm!
The valley woke, alive in every form,
It breathed, it roared, it trembled in the night,
As whirlwinds spun and swallowed up the light.
The elements wept, and sang, and raged in rain,
While days flew past, reversing years of pain—
The power of will, the might of knowledge shown.
Within that vortex, all at once I’d known,
From the first hour: the dark and silent deep,
How you would laugh and, joyful, skip and leap,
And all we left unsaid, in secret kept.
That sweeping whirlwind watched me while I wept;
In it you soared, and by your side—my life...
And then the storm died down. The end of strife.
A silence fell. And I stood, gaze on high,
Beholding stars across the infinite sky,
Murmuring words into the fading gleam,
Seeking my light within the starry stream...
