Charm
The rain is drizzling, soft and slow,
The air is crisp, in every way,
And leaves are crunching as I go.
The autumn of my life is here,
My soul is calm, at peace, and free,
The grave can wait, it’s nowhere near,
It’s not been dug for me, you see.
No strength for parties, loud and bright,
For midnight noise and frantic fun,
I’d give it all to rest tonight,
On feather beds, when day is done.
To hold my darling, slow and deep,
The woman who is mine alone,
To feel her naked, while we sleep,
With burning skin against my own.
To stroke her back with gentle hand,
To feel the fire within my chest,
To test the bed, as we had planned,
No fuss, no itch—just quiet rest.
To kiss her breasts with hungry heat,
With tongue to tease her nipples’ tip,
Hush! Neighbors hear us from the street,
Let envy make their spirits drip!
