The Night of Golden Stars - Sapphire Veil
A sapphire veil, transparent, deep,
Is draped across the garden walls.
The sky peers where our secrets sleep,
As starry foliage softly falls.
Upon a guitar made of silver light,
The Milky Way begins to play;
The chord dissolves into the night,
To keep the autumn’s rest away.
[Verse 2]
Beneath acacia’s dark embrace,
We barely feel the ground below,
Entrapped within the cosmic grace
The songs the dancing stars bestow.
Your face, in flickering, ghostly beams,
Is like a map no man can trace;
A violin of forgotten dreams,
A pulse within this silent space.
[Chorus]
The heavens are dropping their crystal to hand,
And time stands still on the ledge.
This evening is vast, like a fathomless land,
A night with a gold-tinted edge.
Within the shimmer of suns from afar,
In chords that are burning and bright,
Some wisdom forgave us for all that we are,
And showered us with notes of light.
[Verse 3]
Don’t rush to make a wish tonight —
It has already come to pass.
Within the breath of cosmic light,
In glows that kiss your hair, my lass.
True love requires no harbor or pier,
Like distant light it proves its worth:
It holds too much of the "Beginning" here,
And far too little of the earth.
[Outro]
Though dawn may bring a sky more stern,
And cool the planets’ fevered glow,
Though down the weary roads we turn,
Where starlit wonders do not show...
Deep in the soul, behind the screen,
That night will burn, a trembling fire,
Where meteors dance in the unseen,
In chorus with the soul’s desire.
