The Love Equation
In quantum mechanics I stood at the crown,
Immune to sweet sonnets and lovers' laments.
I claimed every maiden who wandered the town
Was merely mass-functions and quantum events!
"Ah, love is a mystery!" faculty sighed,
Associate professors grew pale and distressed.
I smirked: "Dear colleagues, step over aside!
I'll bring every glance to a formula test!
I’ll forge an equation, an airtight defense,
For feminine whims and the charms they impart,
So any young student in search of romance
Is armed with equations, prepared for the heart!"
[Verse 2]
I factored the tilt of each delicate lash,
Mapped out every brow by a tidy parabola,
To keep flirt-coefficients from causing a crash,
And lip-volume margins reliably regular!
A Fourier series, Sir Newton’s own law,
Her curls in a golden Fibonacci trend!
I christened my constant "Madonna" with awe,
And solved for love's integral right to the end!
I weighed every giggle, each blush, and each sigh,
The rise of her shoulders in sudden commotion...
The theory is brilliant! Success is quite high!
The final report is a flawless promotion!
[Guitar Interlude]
[Verse 3]
And now came the testing. I boarded the tram,
Awaiting the triumph of reason and light.
A Stranger was seated across where I am:
Her eyes deep as azure, elusive and bright;
A string bag with kefir, a volume of Blok,
A match for the "B-Type" equation of mine!
Cool seventeen Celsius, carved from a rock,
I balance my notepad and draw out the line.
I take logarithms of collarbone grace,
I measure her breath as it trembles and soars...
Then—a sudden turn! Eyelashes flutter in space!
A fatal malfunction in all of my stores!
[Dramatic Build-up]
She gave me a smile!
And down crashed the law!
The integral veered off its infinite track!
A positron boiled in my brain full of flaw,
The vector plunged deep in a cul-de-sac!
What kind of parabola?! Where was the bound?!
Her smile held such sweet, unexpected sensation...
I choked and I froze, knocked right flat to the ground,
Completely forgetting the law of gravitation!
No formulas left! Not a chart to deploy!
Just pure quantum chaos that danced in the dark!
Defeated, disarmed, struck with terror and joy—
In one supernova's miraculous spark!
[Outro]
...The theorem sheets scatter and fall on the street,
An autumn breeze carries the numbers away.
I've turned into human. No matrix to meet.
No thesis defenses to bother my day.
She whispered so softly: "Excuse me, the time?"—
A spark in her eyes shining playful and bright...
And this young docent could finally see:
Salvation was never in physics or talk...
No physics at all.
Only Pushkin and Blok.
