Requiem to city life
Just hold on, pull through,
It hits hard and fast,
Heart soaring, unsurpassed.
Tearing things apart,
Ripping soul from heart,
Nerves don’t count at all,
In a never-ending fall.
Morning’s on the run,
Coffee’s not for fun,
It wakes up the mind,
Leaving sleep behind.
Lunch is on the fly,
If I get the chance to try,
Grab a burger, eat,
Tasks piled in the street.
Evening’s long since here,
Darkness drawing near,
Streets are racing by,
City’s a cruel guy.
Traffic horns all blare,
Crowds are everywhere,
Subway’s dusty haze,
Lost in city maze.
To the woods I’d flee,
Fall on grass so free,
Sleep until I’m whole,
Ease my weary soul!
