пусть хор их, близких, тих и невелик —
но Бог их слышит, знает их язык.
Я жив ещё. И думаю о них.
А Он — не в небе. Здесь.
В гортани.
Где звук дрожит, невнятен, одинок.
И смерть — не пропасть, а иной поток,
где мы — только отзвуки дыханья.
Я жив ещё. Их голоса во мне.
Живут их сны, их шёпот, их тени.
А Бог в безвременной геенне —
приникнул.
Ухом — к русской тишине.

The prayer of the dead — a sigh for the living,
though their choir of kin is quiet and small —
but God hears them, knows their tongue.
I am still alive. And I think of them.
But He is not in heaven. Here.
In the throat.
Where sound trembles, indistinct, alone.
And death is not an abyss but another stream,
where we are only echoes of breath.
I am still alive. Their voices are in me.
Their dreams live, their whisper, their shadows.
And God, in timeless Gehenna —
leans in.
His ear to Russian silence.
