A GIFT FROM GOD
GEORGY ZURABISHVILI

It is not by chance, in truth,
That you set my thoughts a-whirl;
You are the long-awaited dream
In this fleeting, mortal life.

Your warmth stirs the blood
And kindles the flame of passion;
In an instant, it banishes pain
And immerses me in a sea of ;;bliss.

Swift is the rush of desire
Toward the graceful curves of the incomparable one;
Emotions break all bounds
In admiration of the unforgettable one.

It is no sin—truly, no sin—
To greet the dawn with one’s chosen love;
Not merely for pleasure, not merely for pleasure,
Are your cherished features praised in song.

Feelings given by God
Do not fade with the passing years;
I yearn to melt in your embrace—
The path of destiny leads to you.

Your lips alone intoxicate;
I could never turn away from you;
You captivate with tender touches,
Allowing one to rise anew from the ashes.

I cannot bear to live a single day
Without this cherished being;
For you have cast a spell on me—
You are an oasis of enchantment.

It is no sin—truly, no sin—
To greet the dawn with one’s chosen love;
Not merely for pleasure, not merely for pleasure,
Are your cherished features praised in song.
