The Last Cigarette
The bartender pours down the amber on rocks.
You vanished away in some stranger's cheap room,
While I am left breathing this bitter gray fume.
Let behind me the drunken applause carry on,
Forgiving your games is now over and done.
Припев
This is gonna be the last cigarette that we share,
A harsh paper filter and chills in the air!
The foolish old pride burns right down to the skin
I will never return to this tangle of sin!
Burned up the lips, but the heart turns to stone,
Let the fire consume every tear on its own!
It’s five in the morning, the noise drifts away,
No sorrow or grudge for the coming of day.
Your call lights my screen, but it rings out in vain,
I’m cutting your face right out of the frame.
I tossed the crushed pack on the table below,
With a cold, steady smile, I am ready to go.
Припев
This is gonna be the last cigarette in the night!
I paid for true passion, you stepped out of sight!
Let the grey spirals float where the silence belongs
You don't deserve one of my sleepless songs!
Burned up the lips, but the heart turns to stone,
All we once were is ashes and gone!
Don’t look at my shadow, stop seeking the blame,
The cold silence executed our name.
A biting tobacco taste stays on my tongue...
With one final drag, the old damage is done!
Припев
Yes, the last cigarette burned straight to the end!
You weren’t a savior, you broke what won't bend!
I lift up my glass to the dawn breaking free,
Where your name has no shadow or hold over me!
It burned down my fingers-the butt hits the floor,
A dead iron bolt latches shut on my door!
