Life is a zebra

Yesterday I felt just fine,
But today — I’m feeling low.
Life’s a zebra, striped design,
With tricks that always start to show.

Life in contrast — it’s a thrill!
It makes the heart beat fast and free,
Though I’d prefer to just sit still,
Love bolder, live more leisurely.

Sometimes I want to end it all,
I’m sick of everything — to hell!
But then I see her, hear her call,
And feel my pulse begin to swell.

My blood is boiling once again,
Just seeing that red fringe of hair,
Who cares if autumn’s back in rain?
The bull still wants the heifer there.

How good to sleep in perfect tune,
To spice the night with wild delight,
And then to drift beneath the moon,
Sated with love, through all the night.
