Before you die

Today I felt like a puppet on strings,
And these threads are not in my hands.
At any moment the puppeteer plays with my fate
There's nothing I own — nothing that's mine to take.

These four walls can be taken away
Every dime I've got can be wiped today.
Maybe I should find a bridge of my own
Hide from the rain and sleep on stone.

Hold tight to the air — it's all you've got left
Every breath could be your very last breath.
At any moment the order to kill gets signed
So try to live one minute sweet before you die.

At any moment friends can stab you in the back
At any moment love can turn to black.
Remember every word and every deed
Ain't there a rope to hang you by the neck indeed?

There's always someone you depend on
Kings love to keep fools in their throng.
Against their misery their golden robes shine bright
And the twitch of a finger feeds the puppeteer's might.
