The Streetlights Wept
we don't know boredom — goodbyes hurt too much,
I spill bright feelings in your palms,
enough to live without borrowed charms.
the passing glances say we're strange,
we spin and burn beyond their range,
I'm awkward, you are elemental,
this fevered pull feels almost chemical.
the streetlights wept along the lane,
I gave you my heart, still beating insane,
let any stranger call us mad —
I'll never lose the joy we had.
don't hide away from reckless flight,
I'll scatter your thoughts across the night,
the city stops in neon glare,
but chains and stares can't reach us there.
we heal our wounds in close embraces,
your tears run warm across our faces,
we run headlong past every wall —
in this whole world, no goodbye at all.
the streetlights blinked and wept in rain,
I keep that trembling through the pain,
let people whisper what they do —
I'll never, never forget you.
Never...
Never...
Never...
