Lucky coin
Bent up on one side.
Pocket full of bus fare
And a list I never followed.
Mind said, “Pick a lane.”
Soul said, “Watch me spin.”
The coin hit my hand
And twirled on the skin.
Now I’m halfway gone,
Before I leave the cage.
One small turn,
Until my mood changes.
I keep one hand open,
One eye on the coin.
If the world wants random,
Then random is mine.
Spin it, spin it, spin it
(Spin it, spin it)
I’ll take the swing; I’ll take the hit.
(Spin it, spin it)
One sweet twist,
one bright slip—
if I don’t know, I still do it.
(if I don’t know, I still do it.)
My life with no plan:
Like a map with a tear,
Like a train at the edge
Of a nowhere square.
I look like my shoes,
Which look like a dare;
But I know, “That’s fine.”
I was born unnumbered.
Now I’m halfway gone,
Before I leave the cage.
One small turn,
Until my mood changes.
I keep one hand open,
One eye on the coin.
If the world wants random,
Then random is mine.
Spin it, spin it, spin it
(Spin it, spin it)
I’ll take the swing; I’ll take the hit.
(Spin it, spin it)
One sweet twist,
one bright slip—
if I don’t know, I still do it.
Spin it, spin it, spin it
(Spin it, spin it)
I’ll take the swing; I’ll take the hit.
(Spin it, spin it)
One sweet twist,
one bright slip—
if I don’t know, I still do it.
(if I don’t know, I still do it.)
Maybe that’s the trick—
Not the answer, but the motion.
A little bit of faith
And a little bit of commotion.
I don’t need a map;
I need a spark,
A lucky coin in my hand
And a grin in the dark.
Spin it, spin it, spin it
(Spin it, spin it)
I’ll take the swing; I’ll take the hit.
(Spin it, spin it)
One sweet twist,
one bright slip—
if I don’t know, I still do it.
Spin it, spin it, spin it
(Spin it, spin it)
I’ll take the swing; I’ll take the hit.
(Spin it, spin it)
One sweet twist,
one bright slip—
if I don’t know, I still do it.
if I don’t know, I still do it.
if I don’t know, I still do it.
Spin it, spin it, spin it
(Spin it, spin it)
