Honeyed Moment s Grace

Tell me, why do you need those clothes tonight?
We’re here alone, there’s no one else in sight.
Don’t keep them on in hope I’ll change my mind —
I won’t. I want the beauty they confine.

I won’t. My hand will trace your body slow,
each curve and line my fingertips will know,
the whole world fades beyond our view —
we won’t care what they think or do.

And even sorrow loses power,
as happiness takes root inside,
my doubt gives way — I could devour...
your smile tonight, all fear aside!

And slowly, surely, my hand
rests on your shoulders, feather-light,
you yield beneath it where you stand,
and time slips softly out of sight...

It pours like honey... thick and slow,
all amber weight and lazy heat,
until neither of us can know
what came before... this fevered need.

When bodies merge in shadowed heat,
half in the dark, with no regret,
your hand grips mine — hard, bittersweet —
knees drawn in, you let...

me breathe in rhythm, strange and true,
through moments only you can bring,
to taste the ache I find with you,
the pain of every forbidden thing.

Your lips are sweet, but strong as wine,
like southern sherry, rich and fine,
we’re just a little drunk, and then
we fall in love all over again.

But now you’re distant — far from me,
far past the stars, beyond the skies,
yet you’re the only world I see —
my hands close gently round your thighs.

And now, impossibly, you’re near,
though dawn is coming, cold and clear,
I tell you plainly, “Stay awhile...
I love you.” And then you smile.

Let all my sorrow burn away,
let morning wind erase its trace,
so ghostly light, it fades with day —
and in this honeyed moment’s grace...

you smile at me, your gaze so tender,
I’ll stay right here, I won’t depart.
From now on, don’t doubt — remember:
don’t let your dream slip from your heart.
