The woman I love
I've known so many women grown,
Yet none compare to her, the one
Who stole my sleep and peace alone,
In whom my heart has long been won.
My love is stirred by feelings deep,
Though years have passed in silent flight,
Yet into ringing words I weave
These thoughts, sincere, without deceit,
And sing from the heart, day and night.
I buy a bouquet, fresh and sweet,
And place it on my table neat.
It seems a gift from gardens fair
Where once with you I strolled with care,
Breathing the evening's gentle air.
My soul, you ask not for repose,
My soul, you know the path we choose,
My soul, you know your truest self,
Thank you for knowing how to love.
