Parable Of The Pit

Marching blind, a sacred lie
Preacher smiles with a hollow eye
No torch to hold, no light to lend
Just a holy book and a treacherous friend
He points the way to the golden gate
But his feet just slipped on the stone of fate

The ground is cracked, the sky is torn
The path you walk is falsely worn
You trust the voice, you trust the hand
That leads you straight to the wasted land!

If the blind leads the blind,
You will fall!
Into the pit, the eternal thrall!
No eyes to see the coming grave,
Two fools in a hole, too dumb to save!
Lead the way, to the grave!

Masquerade of the pious kings
Selling hope with poisoned strings
They cannot see the rotting floor
Yet they promise you a Heavenly door
History’s jest, a cynical game
Two cripples crawling, crying out your name

The ground is cracked, the sky is torn
The path you walk is falsely worn
You trust the voice, you trust the hand
That leads you straight to the wasted land!

If the blind leads the blind,
You will fall!
Into the pit, the eternal thrall!
No eyes to see the coming grave,
Two fools in a hole, too dumb to save!
Lead the way, to the grave!

Crawl... into the dirt...
Feel the cold... where the maggots flirt...
Your prophet stumbles, your guide is dead
Nothing but darkness inside your head
Dig... the hole... so deep...
Where the liars and the martyrs sleep!

BLIND LEADS BLIND!
YOU WILL FALL!
INTO THE PIT!
NO EYES AT ALL!
Straight to the grave!
Stupid and deaf!
Down in the dirt, with the broken faith!

Fall... fall... fall...
Into the dark...
Two blind men.
