Letters to nowhere
Your voice fades like smoke in time's eternal stream.
Hopes are swallowed by the dark oblation,
And the window frames a blackened dream.
I hold silence gently in my hands,
Feel the cold of rings you used to wear.
And again I sink through ghostly lands,
Where your breath still hangs in empty air.
I have lost all count of time in sleep,
Keep your faded image safe inside.
Like the damp stains climbing up the deep,
I can't leave you — though I've tried.
I hold silence gently in my hands,
Feel the cold of rings you used to wear.
And again I sink through ghostly lands,
Where your breath still hangs in empty air.
Night by night, the ceiling swallows light,
Your name still echoes on my collarbone.
Ghostly, lost forever from my sight —
But my soul is still alive with you.
Letters never reach their destination,
This pen spills ink in time's eternal stream.
Hopes are swallowed by the dark oblation,
And the window frames a blackened dream.
