Yuri V. Slobodenyuk, writing and painting under the name Yury Lobo, is an internationally exhibited visual artist, author, and cultural satirist based in West Palm Beach, Florida. Born in Germany to a Soviet military family and educated across Ukraine and Russia, he graduated from the prestigious Suvorov Military Cadet School before shifting his focus to linguistics and the arts at Kyiv National Linguistic University. After working in Moscow as an art museum guide, translator, television scriptwriter, and journalist, he emigrated to the United States in 1991.

Known in the art world as "Jack the Whipper" for his kinetic, high-velocity paint technique—a dynamic foil to Jackson Pollock’s action painting—Lobo pairs bold visual expression with sharp socio-political critique. In literature, he is the originator of the lilliputin genre, a distinct form of concise, paradoxical aphorism built on dense linguistic play and historical irony. His previous books include the German collections Das gefl;gelte Holzpferd and Hinter dem Vorhang der Ironie, alongside volumes of poetry. He was also the subject of the 2016 documentary film Catching Up with Pollock. Lobo continues to write and paint from South Florida, with upcoming works dedicated to new English-language aphorisms and the satirical visual language of Pieter Bruegel the Elder.
