Hitler owned and wore a watch that was nominally German, but fundamentally Swiss
in its mechanics and casing.  The Andreas Huber Reversible WatchThe Brand on the Dial: The timepiece bore the name of Andreas Huber, a prominent Munich watchmaker and official supplier to the Bavarian royal court.  The Swiss Movement: Inside, the mechanical engine was a hand-wound LeCoultre Calibre 410-11U movement, manufactured in Switzerland in late 1932.  The Case: The reversible rectangular case—heavily inspired by the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso design—was produced by a Swiss subcontractor (bearing Swiss hallmarks) before being imported into Germany for final engraving and hallmarking.  Presentation: The gold watch was commissioned as a gift for Hitler in 1933 (most likely for his 44th birthday or his appointment as Chancellor). The reverse side featured an engraved swastika, Nazi eagle, the initials "AH," and key dates.  The watch was recovered as a war trophy by a French soldier at the Berghof in May 1945 and eventually sold at auction in 2022. Publicly, Hitler generally favored items branded by German firms, but due to how the European watch industry operated at the time, German assemblers routinely relied on Swiss calibers and case makers.
