Divine harmony

Divine the harmony, celestial art,
Of music born where heavenly spheres resound
A cosmic symphony doth play its part,
Whilst dancing Hetairai whirl around.

A sorcerous vibration, sweet and vast,
Of beauty boundless as the morning sky,
With poetry and grace forever cast
Through median realms and latitudes on high.

Behold fair Orpheus, spellbound by the streams
By rivers steeped in ancient lore and flame
By Mercury enchained within his dreams,
And bound by Terpsichore’s eternal name.

To bright Apollo’s hands the gift is given
Seven-stringed, one fleeting breath of time
And drunk with triumph, lifted into heaven
He bathes his soul in inspiration’s rhyme.

Thus mortal hearts, by sacred music stirred,
May touch the stars, where mortal songs are heard.
