Cherry Lipstick
Your lips, still warm with traces of rain.
A whirl of hunger — yours and mine,
Two tangled fates, one sweet refrain.
A knot of blood-red, tangled thread,
White bodies woven tight beneath.
Cut through it now — too much has bled.
The Gordian knot has grown its teeth.
Into you — drop by drop — I fade.
Within you, all my life will live.
I’ll tear you from this masquerade.
You want it too? Then say it. Give.
The curtain falls — applause, applause.
The hall is packed with hellish eyes.
An encore: fragments without cause,
Where hearts were cut to size with lies.
A play composed of borrowed lies —
And now that play has become your life.
Your place is here, here by my side.
Enough of drowning deep in lies.
The world is bitter, black, insane,
Yet far-off fires still pierce the night.
I’d gather every distant flame —
One for each day you held me tight.
With cherry lipstick, stain and shine
Your lips, still warm, still wet, still sweet.
Perhaps you’ll swear you won’t be mine —
But fate has other plans to keep.
With coffee-cream, I’ll trace your lips,
Their tender curve, their quiet gleam.
I only need one truth to slip
From you to me — the words I dream:
That you...
that you...
love me too.
