Я усиленно учу язык, поэтому написала балладу, как тренировку. Позже сделаю стихотворную адаптацию на русском.

Onorata stood on the pier
With salt in her braid
The Black Corsair watched the tide
Like a blade in the shade
He kissed her hand like a vow
But his eyes held the storm
Two hearts beating on one deck
One shadow, one form

He said, "My love, don't ask me why"
The moon went pale above
"There's blood beneath my fatherland
And duty over love"

Onorata, stay with the sea
Onorata, let me be free
I love you deep

But honor calls to me

His brothers sleep in shallow water
Under his father's guns
He spoke their names like breaking glass
Then touched her face with bloodless thumbs
Her father laughed at the harbor fire
Like nothing could be paid
But every wave had learned that night
The price a corsair made

He said, "My love, don't ask me why"
The wind had turned to steel
"Your father's house and my dead men
Are the wound I cannot heal"

So he cut the ropes to her small white boat
And let the current take
What neither sword nor prayer nor kiss
Could keep or truly break
She reached for him through rising foam
He stood and took the blame
Love in his hands, revenge in his throat
And salt upon his name

The promise you could not save
I gave you to the open deep
