Only the One Who Kept the Balance

Only the one who has seen light is alive,
and the one who touched the dark with his mind.
Having found the one answer,
he no longer judged his fate so harshly.

He simply walked out to the stars into the night
to gain his freedom for ever —
out of the grey of the everyday, off into space,
and renounced death on arrival.

And so, with an immortal soul,
led by his reason on the road,
having taken peace into himself for ever,
he came in the end to stand level with the gods.

But of those gods not a trace remains.
Creators rule the universe now:
those who learned life and the secret of the forces,
and walked out to the stars, full of happiness.

Only the one who kept the balance
of light and dark inside himself is alive,
who managed to keep the source of those forces safe
and did not lose the peace in his soul.
