Hitori-002

In evening’s trembling dark I stay,
As silence brushes down my face.
I’d keep my faith and not betray
The grief-scorched crown I once embraced.

The pages shiver in the air,
Forgotten words begin to live.
I’d play each part and lay it bare,
And buried pain a voice I’d give.

My fingers close on empty air,
The ringing thread is torn in two.
I’d find a simpler love to share,
But fear forgetting joy I knew.

Spark after spark, the embers fade,
What burned my days has lost its flame.
Yet in my soul one whisper stays:
Alone forever — you remain.
