Sixteen Naps
Some people say that I am lazy and fat
I'm glad to hear it, 'cause I am a cat
Well, a man's day's filled up with toil and toll
And I'm using him as a scratching pole
You take sixteen naps, and what do you get?
Another day older while being a cat
I made you trip, when I lay on the floor
I took a stroll through the company store
I woke up one morning when the sun didn't shine
But since I'm a cat, I was seeing just fine
I toppled a trolley filled with number 9 coal
And the straw boss said, "Well-a bless my soul!"
You take sixteen naps, and what do you get?
Another day older while being a cat
I tripped you up, made you fall in the store
I hear you screaming, but I ignore
I woke up one morning, it was drizzlin' rain
A high-toned woman calling out my name
No can was opened - so I'll ignore
I'll sit in the canebrake, licking my fur
You take sixteen naps, and what do you get?
Another day older while being a cat
I'm on a shelf, pushing down your book
While giving you my best Judging Look.
You take sixteen naps, and what do you get?
Another day older while being a cat
I honor a Human curling up in his lap
And when he stops petting, I give him a slap.
