Частый, я бы даже сказала, классический пример из моей практики лексико-фонетической ошибки при чтении текстов для изучающих английский язык. Эти два слова путают и произносят неправильно из-за обманчивого визуального сходства.

 The words science and since are a classic trap for English learners. They are frequently confused and mispronounced due to their deceptive visual similarity.

Science
is the сareful study  of the structure and behaviour of the physical world, especially by watching, measuring, doing experiments, and the development of theories to describe the results  of these activities (Cambridge Learner’s Dictionary)

двусложное слово с ударением на первый слог. Содержит долгий дифтонг [a;] как в словах eye, my, time.
