Ashes of the Crown
The roads don't lead to Rome today
The statues weep with rusted eyes
Their marble hands reach for the skies
We built our walls so tall and wide
To keep the storm and time outside
But time just laughed and cracked the stone
And now we stand here all alone
Oh, the crown is turning into dust
The iron throne is eaten by the rust
The banners fall, the kings have fled
The only song left is the dead
We sang of glory, sang of might
Now we just whisper in the night
“Remember us, remember when…”
But empires never rise again
The libraries burn with silent cries
The truth is hidden in the lies
The generals pawn their medals cheap
While widows in the rubble weep
The colosseum hears no cheers
Just echoes of forgotten years
The forum square is overgrown
A kingdom made of skin and bone
Oh, the crown is turning into dust
The iron throne is eaten by the rust
The banners fall, the kings have fled
The only song left is the dead
We sang of glory, sang of might
Now we just whisper in the night
“Remember us, remember when…”
But empires never rise again
The sun still rises... but not for us
The winds still blow... but they don't trust
The soil that drank our fathers' blood
Is now just dirty, lifeless mud
So take this ring, take this flag
Throw it in the river's drag
Let the water take the shame
And drown the last forgotten name
For the crown is turning into dust!
The iron throne is eaten by the rust!
The banners fall, the kings have fled!
The only song left is the dead!
We sang of glory, sang of might!
Now we just whisper in the night!
“Remember us, remember when…”
But empires never rise again...
Never... again...
Just dust... and rain...
