Death
Beneath the wild song of the plague's dark decree,
I watch as the last ray of daylight turns old,
And cast off my oath to the wars set for me.
With Truth's own lieu tenant walking be-side,
My hand intertwined with Destiny's own,
I crush down the grasses where shadows reside,
And shatter the peace all humanity's known.
I'm flying on wings through the canvas of night,
A star has been caught in my gown,
I dye all my hair with the pure driven white,
A dream I've at last tracked down.
Adorning my dresses with tales from the lore,
I'll find out the mask of a liar to face,
Then shower with kindness the one I adore,
The soldier who fell from a heavenly grace.
Descending into the earth's molten core,
From depths where no living could ever arrive,
I've brought velvet robes for the Wind to explore,
That only the damned had contrived to survive.
I waltzed with the Maestro right under the ball,
My bare feet were gleaming like frost on the blade,
I danced through the laughter, stood proud and so tall,
Though guests found my steps just a masquerade.
Vile deeds — what a wonder! The mockery stings,
Their scorn hits my back as a thrown burning brand,
I stand on the edge where the abyss sings,
While silence returns at his harsh command.
In hours appointed by none but my will,
I chose the sharp music of whips,
A hundred wide eyes became eerily still,
To witness Death's dance on her hips.
Unfazed by the gale and the feathers of black,
This dress made of ravens' decay,
I wait for the dawn to pull shadows back,
And take my final bow 'ere the day.
