We Could Have Built
Iron birds bring fiery rain,
Over all the ruined world,
Nothing left but endless pain,
Where the drifting ashes swirled.
We became the beasts of prey,
Left our human souls behind,
Watched our home burn far away,
Lost the light that once was kind.
[Chorus]
A miracle of life, or just a curse?
We could have built, but burned it all instead.
We make the universe much worse and worse,
And leave nothing but ashes where we tread.
[Bridge]
The end will come!
We self-destroy.
All voices dumb,
No peace employ.
[Verse 2]
We turned our eyes away,
The sky was burning red,
We chose to look and stay,
And let the world go dead.
The cities fade to grey,
The forests burn to ash,
No word was left to say,
Just silence in the crash.
