Pain

My blood runs cold, my soul is numb,
My heart's a slab of scorched stone.
I walk the edge where steel will come,
Above the ash, a shadow's thrown
Its veil. My gift is silent might,
It knows no word like "spare" or "cease".
I do not mourn another's plight,
The frozen void destroys all peace.
My path is marked by emptiness' sign,
And you have made your dark pact with mine.

But where's my home? Where is the light?
Just ravens screaming in my wake.
A cursed cross shadows my whole life,
No hope returns, no paths retake.
I'm witch of northern winds that bite,
A child of snow-locked barren lands.
My spirit locked in chains of night,
Alone I stand, as nothing stands.

Some joyous laughter beats the wall,
I'll fling the window wide to greet it.
The sky ignites in golden call,
But deep inside, I'll never meet it —
No warmth, no flutter of an eye,
Just victory's indifferent gleam.
Among a hundred faces passing by,
I hold a conversation, cold and lean.
The road below cuts sharp as broken glass,
While others' triumph makes my footsteps pass.

They say that power heals and saves from harm,
That any whim bends to the spellbound hand.
But only heavens raise their own alarm,
To shine the sun or make the rain-soaked land.
My gift has drained the breath of common men,
Sealed up my heart in copper forged of frost.
There's nothing left for me to feel again,
Except the right to look upon them lost.

Let weeping rain fall down for me instead,
Let sunlight grace the place where once was mirth.
Beneath my skin, a crust of fire spreads,
And ringing sin lies sleeping 'neath its hearth.
I'm witch of roads forever bound by pain,
The keeper of defeat and victory's claim.
My way is death, I'm walking it alone,
For every feeling from my core has flown.
