Witch

In the night's deep shroud I was seeking,
Reading wax and the ashes of grey.
With a spell on my lips ever speaking,
Letting fortunes just drift with the stray.
I was sinning in shadows, confessing!
Candles burned through the blackness so sheer.
I was begging and cursing, depressing...
But no answer would reach me from here.

My life's rim had an angel to guard it,
He was waiting for us to unite.
He was waiting when I'd find the hermit,
And we'd steal all the keys from the night.

I've worn velvet and silk, felt the shockwave,
Felt the tenderness turn into spite.
Just the envy of rivals that crave
For the glamour I owned every night.
On the pathways of chic I've been falling,
Dropping pearls where the spotlights ignite.
From pure shame I was inwardly crawling,
When a suitor would stand by my side...

Then I saw... All these gems are deception,
Empty glare of the beauty we fake.
After hundreds of sins and perception,
Through the silent dark veil I'm awake!
I have shattered the ringing cut crystal,
Torn the velvet and silk into shreds!
Frozen steel of the grudges — abysmal —
I endured 'neath the trembling star spreads...

What is left of this fortune-telling?
How much truth did I burn for a lie?
There's a space between heaven and dwelling,
Where my stolen life-keys amplify...
Where is my angel watching the sky?..
